ISHIKAWA - Marinoni Type Rotary Press with Folding Mechanism

The Ishikawa Marinoni Type Rotary Press, which is on permanent display at News Park (Nihon Shimbun Museum) in the city of Yokohama, is believed to have been manufactured around 1926 (Taisho 15.) It is one of the 62 units manufactured by 1936 (Showa 11) and is the oldest surviving Japan-produced folding rotary press. This machine was capable of continuous quadruple-folding after printing, which significantly improved the work efficiency. The printing speed was 24,000 copies per hour for four-page double-sided printing. The machine was used to print industry news publications until 1986 (Showa 61), after which it was put into operation at a newspaper company.
