High-Pressure Triple Plunge Pump “Sugino Pump First Machine”

This "high-pressure triple plunge pump" machine was developed in 1964 (Showa 39) by the Sugino Machine Co., Ltd. as a drive source for a water hydraulic motor for a tube cleaner used to clean the insides of boilers and heat exchange pipes. Its discharge pressure and flow rate were 30 MPa and 1.0×10-3 m3/s, respectively, and approximately 14,000 units were manufactured in total. This technology was later developed into waterjet technology, which is now used throughout the industry and continues to make significant contributions to societal advancement through metal, concrete, and other material-cutting applications, and via extended use in food and health care.
