MECHANICAL ENGINEERING HERITAGE NO.100
Educational Equipment for Mechanical Engineering of Imperial
College of Engineering/Related Documents of C.D. West
Many of the drawing instruments and mechanical models used at the Imperial College of Engineering, which was the first of its kind in the world to study "engineering," and its successor, Tokyo Imperial University, are preserved at the Intermediatheque in KITTE, next to Tokyo Station.
The University of Tokyo's Libraries for Engineering and Information Science & Technology store high-definition drawings by Imperial University students and the notes of lectures by the mechanics teacher C.D. West.
These convey to us the true nature of the efforts made by our predecessors at the dawn of modern engineering education.
