Most of the disruptions that have been caused by technological advances have pertained to fields outside the education sector before the arrival of Artificial Intelligence (AI). However, it is undeniable that AI has immense potential to revolutionize academia. For academic researchers, AI tools can seem like a boon. Nevertheless, it is still crucial to navigate some issues. For instance, AI cannot replicate the understanding, critical thinking, and perspective that a human researcher would infuse within an academic study. Additionally, there are some serious drawbacks to the use of AI, making it important that it is deployed responsibly and judiciously. Playing to the strengths of both AI and researchers could yield the best results.
