第6回 Citations: Corroboration in Academic Writing

Deep Sarkar

A citation refers to a reference or a source of information in an academic work that tells the reader that the author has borrowed an idea, a quote, a theory, a methodology, or a piece of information from someone else. Citations are often considered important in academics as a highly cited work can boost the career of a researcher in their respective field by increasing their visibility. Citing correctly and accurately is considered paramount within the academic field because it serves an important role, namely the corroboration of knowledge.
