The Fluids Engineering Divisions of ASME and JSME are organizing a
Student Paper Contest for the 4th ASME/JSME Joint Fluids Engineering
Conference, July 6 - 10, 2003, Sheraton Hotel Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii,
under the sponsorship of FLUENT Inc.
The Student Paper Contest may be entered by:
- Undergraduate students
- Recent baccalaureate engineers (i.e. graduation after April 2002)
- Beginning graduate students (i.e. start of graduate studies after
April 2002)
Contest participants should submit a 500-word abstract on research
or development in all areas of Fluid Mechanics. Of particular interest
for this year are studies in the following three areas:
- Bio-Mechanics
- Flow Visualization
- Atmospheric Flows
The student project can be completed either in a university or in industry.
Based on the abstract, contestants will be invited to submit a full-length
(approximately 6000-word) paper. The manuscripts will be reviewed by
the ASME/JSME FED Student Paper Contest Committee. The authors of the
eight best papers will be selected as finalists. Based on the recommendations
of the reviewers, finalists will revise their papers to match ASME publication
guidelines. The revised finalized papers will be published in the conference
proceedings. In addition, each finalist will be awarded a $1,000 prize
to defray the expenses of attending and presenting their paper at the
meeting in Hawaii. At the meeting, the three best papers will be selected
and awarded gold ($500), silver ($300), and bronze ($200) standings.
