Inauguration of Indonesia Section
The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) launched a new international collaboration program “JSME International Chapter” to jointly promote technological and scientific developments in Asia and other regions where JSME’s counterpart organizations plan to step up technical publication activities or educational programs. In the course of the collaboration, these activities will also support JSME members engaged in the research or manufacturing works in those countries or regions.
This year JSME entered on the collaboration with Indonesian researchers and engineers by setting up Indonesia Section, and in commemoration of this groundbreaking tie-up held first Joint Meeting on July 23 and 24, 2008 at Bandung Institute of Technology, featuring an international symposium, a conference of Indonesian graduate school students, and seminars. The international symposium was cosponsored by the AUN/SEED-Net Regional Workshop on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which aims at promoting intensive training of young engineers at 19 universities and institutions in 10 ASEAN countries. Being announced as an official event of the Indonesia-Japan Golden year of Friendship celebration, this meeting literally opened a new chapter for the future of engineers and researchers of both countries.
