19th International Symposium on Magnetic Bearings (ISMB19)

The nineteenth international symposium on magnetic bearings, ISMB19, will take place at Biwako Hotel in Otsu, Shiga, Japan, from August 19 to 22, 2025. The primary aims of ISMB19 are to promote scientific and technological exchange between Asia and other parts of the world, and to enhance the understanding and the dissemination of magnetic bearing technology worldwide. The ISMB is the major meeting for academic and industrial researchers from all over the world.

    Technical tour & City tour

    Technical tour ( The application for the tour was ended. )

    The technical tour for "YASKAWA Robot Village" and "TOTO Museum" is planned in the afternoon on August 5, 2016. The head offices of YASKAWA and TOTO are located in Kitakyushu-city. The tour fee is about ¥1,000 yen as a bus fare. Pre-registration of the technical tour is necessary. For the reasons such as tour capacity and company security, you might be not allowed to attend the tour.

    A stroll through Kitakyushu's History ( The application for the tour was ended. )

    We are now planning the Kitakyushu city-tour, “A stroll through Kitakyushu's History”. It will cost ¥3,000 yen. We hope that many persons will attend the city-tour. If the number of participants is less than 20 persons, the tour might be canceled because of the bus payment. Pre-registration of the city tour is necessary.

    Summer festival

    The summer festival will be held at Kokura, Kitakyushu on August 6-7, 2016. We have a plan to attend the festival together on August 6 just after the farewell party. There, you can see many portable shrines coming and going along the main street, and you will enjoy a lot of food stalls.

    Since the summer season in Kitakyushu is very hot! and very humid!, you must be prepared for the hot! and humid! evening.

    Digest preparation and submission

    Digest

    Please prepare your digest using the template format below. The digest length is limited to two A4 (21 x 29.7 cm) pages (no exceptions) including "References".

    The following template file is used for the digest only and available for MS word and LaTeX.

    When preparing the digest for your paper, please make sure that the main idea of your paper is clearly described. If there are still some parts missing, point them out in an outlook so your reviewers can grasp the full extent or your investigations. The digest should not include a separate abstract.

    For the LaTeX style files, the template will be prepared soon.

    After you complete your digest, convert it to PDF (Adobe Portable Document Format). The PDF file size should not exceed 10 MByte. Your digest can be uploaded on the upcoming website for digest submission.

    The deadline for the digest submission is March 1, 2025. After the review by several reviewers, the notifications of acceptance will be sent on April 15, 2025.

    Publication of the proceedings

    Submitted papers will be published according to the following process.

    1. The watermark, such as “Presentation & Publication Not Yet Completed”, will be embedded in the papers included in USB proceedings.
    2. Session chairpersons will confirm the paper presentation by the registered author. Notice the paper presented NOT by the registered author will not be republished.
    3. After the symposium, the confirmed papers will be republished without the watermark on the website http://www.ismb15.org/.

    Exhibition

    Exhibition of International Symposium on Magnetic Bearings (ISMB19)

    The symposium will be accompanied by an exhibition. Magnetic bearing manufactures as well as research laboratories are encouraged to present their magnetic bearing systems, products and components to the international community.

    Registration and information about space, utilities and advertising should be submitted by April 1, 2025 via email (ismb19 [at] jsme.or.jp) using the above registration form. We also welcome other proposals for exhibition and advertising.

    A. Booth Rental Rate of Exhibition (provisional):
    A1: JPY 350,000 per unit Booth unit size of 1800mm x 900mm, including two persons registration fee with banquet.
    A2: JPY 280,000 per unit Booth unit size of 1800mm x 900mm, including one person registration fee with banquet.
    A3: JPY 125,000 per unit Booth unit size of 900mm x 900 mm. The final layout will be made by the organizing commitee.
    Company logo will be displayed on the the ISMB19 website with a link to your company and the ISMB19 program booklet for A1, A2 and A3.

    B. Advertizing Rate (provisional):
    B1: JPY 90,000 Company advertisement will be displayed on the ISMB19 booklet, and your company logo will be displayed on the ISMB19 website and program with a link to your company.
    B2: JPY 50,000 Company advertisement will be displayed on the ISMB19 booklet.
    B3: JPY 50,000 Company logo will be displayed on the ISMB19 website and program with a link to your company.

    We also welcome other proposals for exhibition and advertizing.

    Symposium Venue

    The ISMB19 will be held at Biwako HOTEL in Otsu city, Shiga, Japan. The hotel is located on the southern shore of Lake Biwa, where you can see a spectacular lake view. It can be reached by train in 10 minutes from Kyoto and 40 minutes from Osaka. Otsu city is the ancient capital of Japan and home to many famous places including the World Heritage Site Enryakuji.
