Message from JSME to all victims in the
disaster
March 2011
The Tohoku-Pacific Ocean earthquake with an
unprecedented magnitude of 9.0 has caused devastating damage to Tohoku area in
Japan. The ensuing tsunami wreaked destruction on the coastal area and the
enormous numbers of precious lives were lost. Critical damage has also been
incurred at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power
Station.
On behalf of our members and staff, JSME expresses
its sincere condolences to all those who have lost loved ones and to our members
affected by this disaster. We pray for all of the souls of the dead by the
historic earthquake and tsunami.
Facing up to this huge earthquake we recognize our
duty to the society and will launch activities and devote every effort to the
earliest reconstruction from the disaster.
We received many heartfelt messages from the
related foreign societies and friends worldwide to express their sympathies. We
are more than grateful for their kind thoughts and encouragements.
We sincerely wish that the devastated area will be
reconstructed as soon as possible and the safety and relief for their lives will
be secured.
